UPSC SRAE Examination 2014
Union Public Service commission is conducting Special Railway Apprentices Examination 2014. Candidates who will be appearing in the examination & want to prepare for the examination can get the details from this page.
Union Public Service Commission(UPSC) is going to conduct the Special Class Railway Apprentices exam on 12th January 2013. Candidates who want to make their career in Railway can apply for the examination the last date to apply for the exam is 4th November 2013.

Age limit(as on 01.01.2013): minimum 17 years & maximum 21 years.

Scheme of Examination

Part-I: General Ability Test (English, General Knowledge & Psychological Test) 2 hours 200
Part-II: Physical Science(Physics & Chemistry) 2 hours 200
Part-III: Mathematics 2 hours 200

Section- I
Part I- Written Examination carrying a maximum of 600 marks in the subjects as shown below.
It includes General Ability Test (English, General Knowledge & Psycological Test)
Time Duration: 2 hours
Maximum Marks: 200

Syllabus:
Part-I: General Ability Test (English, General Knowledge & Psychological Test)
General Knowledge: The questions will be designed to test the candidates General Awareness of the environment around him or her. The standard of answers to questions should be expected of students of standard 12 or equivalent.

Man & Environment
It includes Evolution of Life, plants & animals, heredity and environment - Genetics, cells, cromosomes, genes.
Knowledge of human body - nutrition, balanced diet, substitute food, public health, sanitation etc., Food adulteration,storage, diseases
Solar System & the earth, seasons, climate, weather, Soil - its formatation, erosions etc.
Money, Texation, price, national income, economic growth, private & public sectors related topics.

History, politics ans Society of India -
Vedic, Mahavir, Budhdha, Maurya, Andhra, kushan, shupa caves, The rise of new social forces with the coming of Islam & establishment of broder contacts. Transition from feudalism to capitalism. Opening of Europian Contacts, Constitution of India

(III) Psychological Test
Length measurements using vernier, screw gauge, spectrometer and optics level, Measurement of time & mass.
