Technical Support is one of the emerging filed as with the increase in the Technology the requirement of Software is growing day by day. These technology has left any area or sector hence its growth and requirement is huge. as people after purchasing software requires someone who can handle their Technical issues. 


Their are three main field in Computer/IT Field
Software Developer
Tester or Quality Control
Technical Support

Software Developer is the filed for which most of us look after their graduation but since the vacancies are limited and the knowledge required for the same is also quite huge hence most of us are unable to creak either the interview or the technical test so their is nothing to worry about. Software field is quite huge and their are lots of streams for which you can opt for.

Many software multi national company hire Tester or Quality Control freshers with more than 10 lakhs ctc. Hence it depends upon how you perform, first of all look for the department in which you are comfortable to work which is your strength. If you are good in programming than only opt of Development. If you think that you are good at database and networking then their are database developers too. So just keep focused, even a good knowledge of Structured Query Language(SQL) can provide you a bright future.

What is Technical Support
Once the software developers develop the software and all the testing part is done after deployment there is a need to resolve the issues which client faces after the deployment of the software hence for maintaining the quality and reliability of the software the support part is quite important. It tells us what are the recent issues our client are facing.

Some of the issues are self resolved or their is a certain work flow which client need to follow and if this is not the case than we need to work ore repairing which need to be done on the software to resolve it.
We need to find if the issue is on the database side or on the product side.
After finding that if we came to know that the issue is on the database than we need to perform operation on database, generally their are different database management tools available few of them are Sqlyog, Oracle 9g, 10g, Sql server 2008-10-12.

If the issue is on the software side or the product side than we need to update or modify the code to fix that bug. When such issues occur the developer modify the code to remove that bug and then again it goes through quality control.

The simple example to explain it is Watsapp, the software itself has various versions and every month their is a new update/version of the software. It is nothing but the bug which is present in current version or an update or additional feature added to the new version. Hence once we update our software those issue gets resolved. The goal of technical support team is to get those issue areas and fix it according to the requirement.

Technical support department is present in all the companies irrespective of whether the company is small or big. If the company has 100 developers than their would be roughly around 30 testers and around 1000- 10,000 technical support persons and it varies from scope of the software. If the software is big then the support department is big else it is small.  

Let me give my case. I am working as a Technical support ( Technical account manager ). There are 300 developers, 100 testers and around 500 technical support person with more than 1000 present at the call centers.
